Painful Life Lesson

So about 2.4 months into this journey and down 22 lbs. Last night I spent a few hours in the emergency room. So a little story...

Saturday I had tons of time to kill so I went to the gym and had a great 2.5 hour session. Did weight training and even did some extra ab work, hey we all want that 6-pack don't we. I felt great. Sunday morning I woke up a little sore in my stomach but nothing more than muscle fatigue I thought. So I went out to help my brother in law do some landscaping. We were moving logs when I started to hurt more and stopped.

I was sore the rest of the day. Monday I wake up and go to work still sore. When all of a sudden around 9:00am I sneeze! Pop! I feel it in my belly and my belly button turns from an innie to an outie. Damn! Can you believe the final nail in the coffin was a damn sneeze! Boy oh Boy

Well after work off I go to the emerg and sit to find out for sure I have a hernia. He sneakily pushes it back in and I scream. Now waiting for an ultrasound and referral to the surgeon.

Lesson to the story, listen to your damn body, pushing to hard can hurt, now I am out for at least a month or more by the time I get the surgery. At least I will be back at it before my Fall Hockey Season starts up again.

Wow, that totally sucks, Mr. Bob. I dread an injury cuz I don't want to have to start over. Good luck!

Oh no! So sorry to hear that. I hope you heal quickly.

I have had several injuries and surgeries in my life and I know what it's like to not be able to be active, so now I'm overly careful. I don't over-do it at all because I know how miserable I'll be if I'm unable to workout. Thanks for the reminder, though!

    OMG DX

Geez... yeah - good object lesson. Wish you didn't have to go through it to learn it, though. Holy cow.... sounds like some of the CrossFit horror stories I've heard.

Wish you a speedy recovery! *shudders*

Listen to your body is a cliche, but its true. Bad luck dude, bit its all part of your journey, hope the op goes well and try to be patient. If you are losing weight then you are back onto focusing on the consumption aspect and accurate logging.
