Back problems

I've had a back problem for the last 10 months but the last few days its been very difficult even to walk. It's more painful to sit down so driving's awful & I work at a computer all day, so have had to make an improved standing desk propping my computer up on 3 box files so I don't have to sit down. I've been managing to walk several times a week & do a weekly gym circuit with my son, but what exercise can I do whilst I'm this bad? I don't know exactly what the problem is but my back clicks & pops when I move. I'm 48 - I'm worried it's never going to get any better. I'm seeing an osteopath tomorrow who I hope can help. Of course I'm sticking to MFP as I won't be clocking up many exercise cals.
