TDEE and Maintenance is fascinating

I hit my goal weight of 185 lbs six weeks ago and decided to maintain that. I was netting 1,700 cal / day (2,100 intake, 400 cal exercise) while losing weight. I upped the intake just 200 cal / day and maintained 185 lbs for a few weeks. Thought I had it. Then I decided to focus on serious weight training, so I reduced my cardio and increased intake. I am now at 2,400 cal / day net (2,600 intake, 200 exercise). And I am losing weight again. I added 700 cal / day and reduced exercise calories by 1/2 and started losing weight again (that's a NET add of 900 cal / day; holy crap!).

The human body is fascinating. I'll stick with this regimen for a month and see what happens. I am getting stronger so I don't think it's muscle going away.

Keep monitoring your weight and slowly adding the calories.

Sounds like your metabolism is firing like a F1 race car.

I need to read stories like this. I have been fast tracking the loss and I just hit the milestone where I planned to adjust and bring it in slowly. I get these irrational fears that I will gain 10 pounds if I eat a sub instead of a salad for lunch no matter how many times I look at the numbers.

It is pretty fascinating...I had much the same experience. I was netting around 1850 when I was losing and grossing around 2150 or thereabouts. I slowly ticked up my calories to around 2500 gross figuring that's where I should be. I was still losing a little and figured out that I need around 2700-2800 to maintain with my current exercise routine...even then, there are certain days where I'm just hungry as all hell and could eat a house...usually a recovery day.

I got to the point where I'm not looking forward to rest days because my apetite has grown in proportion to my activities, and during those days I don't have exercise calories to cover the hunger.

Took almost three months for my weight to stabilize and I lost an additional 10lbs in the process lol.
