Why am I carrying fat in my back?

Hi everyone, I have a question.
I use to be around 325 pounds and now I am at around 185. I am just now realizing I'm carrying a lot of fat in my back, like a lot. I am not understanding why? This issue didn't start until month 6 of my weight loss journey, it's like the fat came out of nowhere. I admit I have had a few slip ups with my eating, I've had a few binges, but I can't recall gaining back any large amount of weight.
I rarely hear any people saying they have back fat, I thought fat was usually stored in the stomach, hips, and thighs, but not the back? Is it normal to have back fat? Should I speak with my doctor?

You can't choose where you will lose or gain fat. Blame your parents.0

Back fat here as well...you can't spot reduce, unfortunately. I've lost 55lbs and it's still there... a bit smaller, yes, but still there.0

we all have our trouble spots LOL
continue with your weight loss plan and it will eventually (more than likely) fall off.0 -
You just didn't notice it until now because you had more front fat.0

I carry lots of fat in my back. It's all above my bum though, not in my upper back. I call it my shelf.0

Yep. BMI of 22 and it's more noticeable to me now than it was when I was obese.0 -
I carry fat on my back, too. I call it sneaky ninja fat... it lurks in the shadows and jumps me from behind, and I don't notice it hiding back there.0

I wonder if my insurance covers posterior breast reduction surgery...0
