I don't know if there really is a maximum for fiber, but if you're adding it in quickly, be prepared for some um interesting digestive results.

I generally eat between 30-35g fibre a day without trouble. Like the previous poster said though - increase it too quickly and you will run into digestive problems. If you don't normally have much fibre in your diet then increase it slowly.

Agreed. Increase slowly. Too much is maybe over 50-60 g which is hard to meet. I often reach 35 or more myself.

Usually changes in fiber, more than absolute levels of fiber cause various intestinal distress.
There are various African cultures that are noted as model diets in part for eating 100 grams a day of fiber or more.

I bet Charmin is very popular there :o

OP current fiber recommendations are between 20 -35g for an adult. Low carb diets are notorious for causing 'back ups' :( so increasing your fiber intake is a must.

    Bearly.
Honestly high fiber may increase bulk but it should leave a cleaner exit. Probably TMI.

I’ve had as much as 70 g of fiber in a day, and I felt fine. My average is closer to 40 g.

I average about 45 grams of fiber per day. I do have digestive problems, but I don't believe they're caused by fiber because they're relatively recent and my fiber intake has been the same for quite awhile. I suspect my issues are due to anxiety and IBS...or cancer of something, whatever.

I get about 40 grams of fiber a day to stay full/ satisfied and regular. My doctor once told me I had IBS but I haven't had any problems since increasing my vegetable intake. Increase your fiber slowly so you don't feel discomfort.

I'm surprised MFP said 21--I thought it was 25 for everyone unless you manually changed it.

Pretty sure, like the other posters, that there is no maximum. And if you ate plenty of beans or multigrain bread or fruit before, you're probably eating only a little more now and might not see consequences for increasing.
