my biggest issue

I HATE measuring out and weighing my food so I can log it. That part isn't the hardest part, and I could live with doing that if that was the only drawback to logging food. I use my digital scale a LOT, almost too much sometimes. The main issue is I fix a lot of recipes that don't have the nutritional info, from various cooking/recipe sites. I know they're not super high in calories because of the ingredients, but the nutritional info just isn't there. I know I could just stick to the ones in which the nutritional info is there, but that gets boring sometimes, especially when I see a super-yummy looking recipe without the info. I don't want to limit myself just because the info isn't readily available. And I'm going to be the first to say that I just don't have time to sit down and calculate ALL the calories of each ingredient, then divide by the number of servings. When I started watching what I ate last November, I did this . . . and it takes forever sometimes. I just don't have that kind of time. I know there are some sites that claim you can enter the ingredients and # of servings, and it calculates the calories for you, but there are always a few ingredients it doesn't recognize or comprehend.

So this is my biggest drawback - if I eat something without nutritional info, I can't log it here. grrrrrr

This is a recipe calculator that breaks down the nutritional info for you. It takes a little bit of legwork initially, but if you use it with recipes that you know you'll use frequently, you can just copy the nutritional info into your "My Foods" area so that you can revisit it. I've found it very helpful!

Thanks JuneBug! I didn't realize MFP had a recipe calculator.

HAHA! I just went to it and realized it was SparkPeople, not MFP. I wish MFP had one . . . I'll give this one a shot and see how involved it is.

I am anal, so I write down every ingredient and make it into one of "My Meals". I find I rotate a lot of things anyway, so the initial annoyance of writing out everything eventually pays off because I will most likely make it again.
