Pant sizes

I know this has prolly been discussed, but I am being lazy and dont feel like looking...How are men's pant sizes measured? because I wear a 42 size jeans, and since I have been losing weight I can pull them out a good 3 inches away from my waist...I am down 36 pounds total so far...Now given that I can put on a 42 size and pull them out that far, I would think that means I should be able to squeeze into a tight pair of 40s or relaxed pair of 38s? Yes? When I actually tape measured my "waist" which according to most websites is 1 of 2 places either right below your navel, or where most men where their jeans just above the pelvic region. When I measure the navel I come back with a 48...the pelvic region a 43...either way, how does this equate to pant sizes????

Unlike women's pant sizes, I do believe men's pant sizes are based on your waist size. Using that theory, and your measurements, you should be able to fit into a smaller size...but the waist isn't the only thing that gets smaller with a smaller size of pants. You also have to take into account your legs and bottom. Those will both make a big difference.0

Oh, and you also have to realize that not all pants are made to the same measurements. Two pairs of the same size pants can fit you completely differently. I know that makes no sense at all, but it happens.0
