Hihihi,
My name is Laura, and I'm doing a whole life change. I am finally in a career I love as a veterinary technician (despite the bites and scratches) and work full time helping people keep their pets happy and healthy.
After six and a half years, I have recently come to the conclusion that my current relationship is NOT working out, and am moving into my own place. I was comfortable in the relationship despite its cruddy-ness, and gained a whole bunch of weight. Well, now that I'm single, it's time for that weight to come off!
A coworker showed me the MyFitnessPal app, and it's amazing that something as simple as counting calories can make such a difference. I used to be over 190 lbs, and in just over a month, I have dropped 10 lbs. Woo hoo! I look forward to meeting all of you and being inspired by your stories

Hi
Welcome to MFP. This tool has been very helpful to me. I hope it does the same for you.
some suggestions:
1) Read message boards about TDEE and BMR. Use the formulas in the Public Internet to calculate your TDEE and BMR.
2) Buy a kitchen scale, measuring cups and measuring spoons. Use them to control your calorie intake more accurately.
3) Buy a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) . The type with chest strap is the best. Use it to measure your calories burned at your physical activity, whatever it is .
4) I follow Michael Pollan's suggestion: Eat Food, Not too much. Mostly plans
Good luck in your journey0
