I want to lose weight, but I love margaritas!

What do you guys think?
I usually go out and have a Margarita a week with my girlfriends on what we like to call "Margarita Mondays"... can you tell I'm a college student yet? :wink:
But SHEET they have a lot of freakin' sugar and calories. I love my Margs, and am not ready to give them up yet so here are my possible solutions. I'm thinking of :
Switching to celebrating Marg-Mondays every-other week
Drinking extra water on Marg-Mondays

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? Besides not drinking, because as I stated above, I don't want to do that yet... and please don't be judgy. 'Ain't nobody got time for that!'

    It's once a week, don't worry about it. Just cut down on the amount, and use more liquor and less mixer.

    How many margaritas are you drinking? (A single margarita doesn't really have THAT many calories, so I'm guessing it's more than one?)

    One margarita a week is not going to hinder your weight loss. Watch your calorie count the rest of the week, and maybe work out a little extra hard if you're still feeling guilty. But there's no reason to not have one, or even two a week.

    If you're really only having 1 margarita once a week, I would keep on doing it. 1.5oz of tequila is about 100 calories, the triple sec is about 75cal for 1/2oz - if you put lime juice it's like 10 cal for a splash, if you use sour mix it's about 30 cal. Sugar on rim is about 20 calories extra.

    So total is around 225 calories, give or take.

    Just consider that a "snack" and factor it into your calories for the day. Or just drink the tequila on the rocks!

    Increase your activity to make room for boozing, enjoy it, log it, move on.

    You could try a few things...

    Changing your margarita for Vodka (or tequila but not sure how it would taste), lime cordial and soda water.

    If you can't give up your drink of choice then just have less of it or have it less often maybe?

    You could always just eat really healthy on the Monday to make up for the calories or just do more exercise to earn it.

    I just tried the Skinny Girl Margaritas yesterday and they're really quite good and only 95 calories!

    Ask the place you go if they have "skinny" margaritas. If they do, ask what's in it and find something comparable on MFP database and factor into your daily goal.

    If they don't just factor a normal margarita into your daily goal.

    It's only once a week, you should be able to work that in with no problem. I've been having margarita's and wine on a steady basis and have still lost weight.
