My calorie deficit is 1280 a day...when i calculated my maintenance goal on here it was 2280...so does that mean any time i go over my calorie deficit (1200) but stay under my mainenance goal (2280) that means I won't gain weight??

You've got it right. Just be accurate with your logging so you know where you are between those numbers.0

When you eat your maintenance calories, it means just that - that you maintain your weight. If you eat over maintenance calories, you gain weight and how much depends on how much more you eat. Anything less means you lose weight and the bigger the deficit, the faster you lose, basically0
