LCHF

I've been reading up on LCHF which seems pretty similar to Atkins but I had a question. What exactly is Low Carb on this diet in terms of grams??? With Atkins each Phase lets you know how many carbs you are allowed to consume (for example 20g of net carbs during phase one). Is there a specific number? I've heard some people say under 100g while others say 50. I know that I have personally been lower than I ate let's say a month ago but I have days where I go a little over 100 and some days when I'm right at 50. Just wanna know the range.

Diet Doctor (Andreas Eenfeldt) breaks LCHF down into these three categories:
Strict LCHF <20 gram carbs per day
Moderate LCHF 20-50 grams per day
Liberal LCHF 50-100 grams per day
How Low is LCHF?0 -
there is a wide range…but basically Nutritional Ketosis is the strictest and allows 20 gr net a day for carbs..unliited fat or protein. ( like adkins induction) you can stay in VLCarb for as long as you want while losing. once you are bringing ketones not carbs/gluce the brain is happy and you may find sharper focus and thinking..and yur body has ( average) 40,000 stored fat calories to call upon, so you don't feel hungry as you do with carbs..every 4 hours your body burned all the fuel from carbs, but as you know with LC you are 'adapted' and are using stores of fat.
MOST people on low carb <30 a day, many at 50…100 is going to result in slower loss over time.
but do what works for you..just cutting out any processed food is the best start for any type diet. dumping all the soy and High fructose suryp, additives, chemical dye colors, etc, multi potassium salts in even diet soda are not what the body can manage well.0 -

Well I fell like an idiot now because I swear I was JUST on that website this morning looking for that answer but thank you!KETOGENICGURL wrote: »there is a wide range…but basically Nutritional Ketosis is the strictest and allows 20 gr net a day for carbs..unliited fat or protein. Thank you that helps! I find myself around 50 during the week and 100 on the weekends. I want to go keto but idk if I should gradually cut down the carbs or just go full throttle with it. I'm a former potato lover and current wino so it hasn't been the easiest cutting back.0 -
Keto was never my goal so I don't really have any experience with that. I aim to eat as many carbs as I can tolerate so that means I go in and out of ketosis pretty frequently; I've never gone out of my way to stay in ketosis. Maybe if you don't get some input from keto MFP members (the general forums can be a little hostile to different ways of eating at times) the Keto forums on Reddit might be worth checking out. Good luck!

I like your idea..if it works for you, and you aren't stressing over wanting foods or obsessing over counting carbs then stick with that…. the REAL secrete to any success in life is persistence.. our bodies have no end game plan, it's all in our heads..ie wedding party, birthday event, trip to Europe…these are false goals we push ourselves on to lose for…but if you wanted to TRY 20 gr carbs for 3 days…just plan and do it..see how you like it.
After 5 months on VLC I am ready to up mine for a while to maybe 60-70 carbs a day and take a break, and just enjoy the food, no stress. I have 'other fish to fry' in my life…so I don't want to focus so intensely on food.0
