Waste of time.
Just count your calories and eat in a deficit.

Lol, no. Also, you're not allowed to promote the HCG diet on here, as it is a VLCD.0

My apologies.thanks0

I did it right before my wedding. Lost about 20 pounds but didn't notice it at all. Also, when I went back to eating 2000cals a day I gained 35 lbs :-O I was VERY moody and starving (literally) I would never suggest it.0

the veggies and protein is an awesome start. walking every day also helps. HCG puts your body into starvation mode and you will plateau out. I've known about 10 people who have done it and they have all gained whatever they've loss back.0

Don't do it. It's basically just a fancy way of starving yourself.0

Veggies and protein are great, but you're getting enough fat and enough calories to stay healthy too, right?
Skip the HCG.0 -

"Starvation mode" is a myth(see link below), but anyway just eat at a deficit and you will lose weight.

Studies criticising the HCG diet have been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Both concluded that HCG was unsafe and not effective as a weight-loss aid.
“It’s not evidence based – that’s the main concern,” says Gudorf. “I suspect that any weight loss you see is the direct result of the low calorie diet and not as a result of the HCG. If you want to follow the meal plan that’s fine but beware that it’s a very, very low calorie plan. It’s not something you can follow long term.”

I did the HCG diet a few times....lost 20-30 pounds each time, and each time gained it all back and then some. Stay away from it. It is TERRIBLE for your body, makes your thyroid get all out of whack. Best just to monitor portion sizes and eat plenty of meat and veggies with a little fruit and nuts mixed in. Good luck!0

If you put your stats into mfp and eat the daily calories allocated to you ...that includes anything you really want as long as it can fit into those allocated calories then you are on the right track!0

Yes, Virginia, there is a starvation mode.
But it's hard to get there, and is not what most people think it is.
No, you will not stop losing weight if you cut calories too low. Your body has to use energy to run. It won't store fat unless you're in a surplus.
If it doesn't have carbs (glucose, glycogen), it will burn fat, then muscle.
_That_ is starvation mode (burning muscle), and is the body making a hail Mary hoping that you'll eat food before your heart & diaphragm can't work any more & you die.
Here's a very good explanation of the whole mess:

And yes, if it's drastic enough your metabolism will slow, sometimes permanently.

And no, you don't want to do a VLCD unless medically supervised.
(Dunno why you'd want to take human chorionic gonadotropin even then... ick!)0 -
Pregnancy hormone. We ladies make it when we are with child.

Side effects have also been reported with the HCG diet and include fatigue, irritability, restlessness, depression, fluid buildup (edema), and swelling of the breasts in boys and men (gynecomastia). Another serious concern is the risk of blood clots forming and blocking blood vessels (thromboembolism).

Dear Posters,
Our Community Guidelines ( http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/guidelines ) prohibit the creation of any forum posts, groups, or posts in groups that encourage the use of Very Low Calorie diets (including, but not limited to, VLCDs that use the HCG protocol).
MyFitnessPal has always promoted a healthy, sustainable, and gradual path to weight loss. But HCG products are typically promoted in connection with a very low calorie diet, usually one that limits calories to 500 per day. Research has demonstrated that calorie intake at these levels can lead to increased risk of gallstones, hair loss, constipation, an irregular heartbeat, and many other dangerous side-effects.
Moreover, numerous medical studies have shown that the results of HCG-use in combination with a very low calorie diet are indistinguishable from the results of the low calorie diet alone. In light of this research, the FDA has required the labeling and advertising of HCG products to state:
“HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or “normal” distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.”
Our guidelines prohibit any use of Groups or the Public Forums to support the use of HCG.
