I am not a doctor and I don't play one on TV, but I would strongly encourage you to consult a second opinion as regards weight loss and diet while pregnant. Consider a certified nutritionist or dietician, who can help you plan a healthy, balanced meal plan that gives you and your baby the best nutrition possible. While some women do lose weight while pregnant, it's generally not advisable to diet or restrict calories excessively, with the intention of slimming down. It is healthy, however, to get your body's nutritional goals clearly understood and make sure you don't gain more than what your nutritionist recommends, but actively dieting? I wouldn't advise it, personally. Limiting nutrients can be really unhealthy both for you and for kiddo.

What's your current height, weight, age, activity level, etc? Exercise while pregnant is ok, but listen to your body and don't push yourself if you haven't been doing regular exercise before now. Since you are already 7 months along, you're almost there... did your doctor just give you this recommendation? I'm just curious where it's coming from.

Erm..I was 273 pounds when I got pregnant with my oldest and the words "lose weight" never came from my doctor, or any of the specialist that I saw while pregnant, mouths. You're 7 months pregnant. The last 2 months are when your baby will start to fatten up, and in return you may too. I'm sorry but this post infuriates me. How selfish.

@spatulathumbs - my dr said she might recommend a dietitian for me once my results from my glucose test come back. Im 24, 223lbs, and im 5' 6 1/2'. My excersize isnt what it could be but im working on changing it. I walk my dog twice a day for 30mins. Soon im going to start swimming too. My bmi is over 30, which according to the bmi calculator i used online im obese. I was 190 before i got pregnant. Lost 30lbs and dropped to 160 in my first trimester. Now ive gained it all back.

@Achaila - yeah. She said 'you really need to watch your weight gain, your gaining weight too fast'

I just want to do whats healthiest for myself and baby. Thanks for the feedback!

My wife lost weight while pregnant simply because she selected a healthy diet. She cut out fast food, sodas, & empty calories that offer no nutrition (re, candy, etc.). The doctor was never concerned, because her caloric intake was exactly what it should be.
