Hello

I have recently decided that a quick fad diet isnt good enough and I am trying to set life style changes.

Just a few questions on macros.

When people speak about macros they means proteins, carbs etc etc...

How are these defined. Do you use what the MFP system sets for you or is it about the IIFYM system i keep seeing?

are the Macros targets you try to hit, or do you have to try stay under the allowed amount.

I am upping my training - will be training 6 days a week, 3 lifting + minimul cardio and 3 cardio - distance runs.

I want to try my hardest to get around my food - I want to eat clean. I just need a little advice and push in the right direction.

Hit the protein. O.K. to go over.
Try to hit the fats. O.K. to go over.
The carbs do not matter -- over or under. That number is personal preference.

    Use this calculator: http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/

If you're aiming for weight loss.... it's ALL ABOUT CALORIES.

If you're aiming for more mass / muscle ... it's all about calories and adequate protein intake. (1.0g - 0.8g per lb. of bodyweight)

Carbs don't make you fat, granted, you might hold onto WATER WEIGHT, but it doesn't make you fat. People who say that are literally retarded. I'm sorry, but that's the only way to describe those people.

If you want to eat "clean", go for it. If you want to enjoy an ice-cream sandwich with a Snickers bar, go for it. Just stay within your macros, reasonable, and definitely within your calorie range.

Personally, I try to hit my fat and protein. I like keeping my testosterone and sex drive, hence the fat intake.

I'm usually right at my carb level, sometimes I'm way under it. It really doesn't matter. Unless you plan on bikini competing, worry about about your protein and calorie intake.
