This is totes my fault, but it's not in me to ignore a greeting in the gym.

This morning, a man who is in the gym the same time as me every day told me good morning and asked a simple "How are you doing?" during my bent-over lateral raises. On the way up with the weight, I turned my head to the side to tell him how I was doing and ask him the same and BAM! feels like I strained something in my upper back on the opposite side of which way I turned my head.

It's nothing too serious I'm sure and I was able to finish my workout. Good form should be had during lifting and focus is a key to good form (in my opinion). In the future, I will probably finish my set before socializing to keep form and avoid injury.

I know this is no revelation for most. I'm just sharing my experience and spreading a little awareness to whomever cares to read.

Moral of this story is don't talk to people while they are lifting, it's inconsiderate. Wait till they have finished their set at least.

    Your fault and his.

    Hope your back/neck feels better.

Yeah- he's just as much to blame- you don't walk up to people and try to talk as they are lifting- it's just rude- ignorant and very potentially dangerous.

I'll let people know it's okay to keep talking at me or to me if I feel it's a manageable exercise- like certain isolations- but across the board you don't just walk up and talk to people.

It would have been more than acceptable to not look at him and just grunt "he.." which is a half a22 "hey".

Also- who talks in the morning? that's just rude.

Truth.... I lift AM and PM- but usually my AM lifts are weekends- good lord.

Some of the weekday PM people are there that I know- and they treat me like they say hi to me Wed at 5 PM- and it's like 7 AM . I seriously- I'm like f**k off- i'm still drinking coffee. First time- he was shocked.

They have a hard time believing I can REALLY be that bio-polar about AM/PM. Seriously- not.a.morning.person.

Sad thing is, the reason I DON'T work out in the PM is because of how *kitten* crowded that place is in the afternoons. My hope was to go so early that nobody's in there and avoid conversation. I'm just going to have to dickin' up a little bit and iggy that fool. 'Iggy' is slang for 'ignore' I think?
