For your quads, other than back or front squats - Bulgarian Split Squats, lunges, leg press, leg extensions, deadlifts (more posterior chain but they hit quads, hammies and adductors as well as a bunch of other muscles), hip thrusts (although they are more glutes), step ups.

    TL/DR--Leg Press

The best exercise for "thighs", if that's all you care about, is the leg press (at any angle, although 90 degree is hard on a lot of people's backs). Squats are a better overall exercise as you develop more than just legs, but a leg press with a full ROM is actually better for overall leg/glute development. Doing leg press unilaterally (i.e., one legged) emphasizes glutes a bit more to the expense of hams.

Lunges and step-ups are also good overall thigh developers that in my mind are not "like" squats (split-squats are too similar). Finally, deadlifts (and moreso sumo-deadlifts) do have some quad involvement, and therefore somewhat approximate a full-thigh exercise, but they're really more about glutes/hams, and if done properly, a lot of lats.

    Quite right!

But yeah, weighed squats are great. I haven’t done the leg press in ages.
