Go for a Polar. Get the cheapest one that will work for you feature-wise. The more expensive models have more bells and whistles but if you're just going for calories burned then the cheapest one.0

I totally agree with Repoman. Polar is the best, and the more bells and whistles, the higher the price, so get just what you're going to use. I started off with a very basic F4, which I'm not sure they make any more. I was doing all my exercising at home at that time, and the F4 was very basic so it worked. Once I started going to a gym, I had to upgrade to an F6 because the F4 doesn't prevent "crosstalk" like the higher models do. In other words, with an F4, it will pick up signals from other HRMs around you, so it may not give accurate readings if you are around other exercisers. I currently have the F11, and I love it. I have had mine for awhile, so I don't know if Polar still makes these models or not. I think they've got some really cool new ones out, but they can get pretty pricey so make sure you get something with just the features you need.
Also, don't let the chest strap worry you. I was a little nervous about it when I got my first Polar, but if you are used to wearing a sports bra, you won't even notice it. Hope you enjoy whatever you get!0 -
Got the Polar FT4 this week.
So far been really happy with it, it connects with the equipment in my gym and I'm enjoying using it. Gets my vote and it's fairly cheap in comparison with some others.0 -
I have the Polar FT60. I love it. It tells me when I am working too hard or not hard enough. It's like having a personal trainer on my wrist.0
