Healthy or not? Almond-Coconut Milk

Hi there, I recently started drinking the almond-coconut blend milk made by several almond milk companies. I was wondering if you would regard this as a item that is healthy or just a gimmick.

From what I can tell it seems to be ok to drink.

Here are the stats:
8 oz serving
45 Calories
Total Fat 3.5 g
Sat Fat 1g
Trans fat 0g
Cholesterol 0mg
Sodium 125 mg
Potassium 180 mg
Total Carbs 1g
Fiber 1g
Sugars 0g
protein 1g

I just started using this for my protein shakes too! I figure if Bob Harper is pro-almond or coconut milk then it's probably ok

I like that it is lower in calories and sugars than even fat-free milk... I like the coco-nutty taste in my shakes. However, I cannot bring myself to just drink it straight or use it on cereal; I grew up around dairy farmers, and if it doesn't moo, it's not milk

That's really not a great way to judge ingredients. There are an abundance of ingredients and chemicals which are perfectly safe for consumption which all have both common and scientific names. I see where you were going with your comment, but a lot of people avoid "complicated" sounding ingredients just based on that factor.

Some of those are vitamins that are added.

Yeah. Carageenan, often found in plant-based "milks", is basically seaweed if I remember correctly, so it's not like it's ricin or aflatoxin. It's not going to kill you.

I switched to coconut water in my shakes. It's low cal, low sodium and full of potassium
