fit bit TDEE

I posted this in the fitbit group but i figured it would get more attention here. I am 5'2.. 5'3 with good posture 134 pounds female according to scooby my TDEE on desk job ( iam sitting most of the day like 2k steps a day) my tdee is 1640. On the lightly active its 1900... i really bounce around the two but trying to make it a point now since i realized how little i move to get the 10k steps. Ok so according to fitbit on the days that I'm at home doing school for like the entire day i am only burning 1312. Fitbit has just made this my average. On days i work out I'm averaging 1600 give or take. So if I keep at my normal non working out/active day I am only burning 1312?! thats so depressing lol and have no idea how much food i am supposed to be eating now.

How long have you had your fitbit? If less than a month give it a bit more time.
If more than a month get more active I guess. I have a desk job as well and average 8500 steps a day without exercise...I don't email or phone if they are in the same office building...I walk to their office.
I get my water downstairs and ice and do a loop back up to my office....house work when I get home and just regular living.
My sister is the same height as you....but 15lbs lighter..her TDEE is 2200...she works out about 1 hour a day.0 -

yea i assumed i need to just move more... 1312 just seems so low regardless of how much i move especially since scooby said its 1600. more of a reason to get out of the house though because i beyond like to eat.0 -
If you want to eat more food I think its time to pickup the pace.
I also work a desk job and but I also go out of my way to get some steps in.

I also own a fitbit (an HR) and like many people, I hoped it would show I burned more calories daily than I thought and I could eat more. Unfortunately, no. I'm a little older than you -- 56 -- and shorter -- 5'1.5" and around 120-122 lbs. If I do nothing, my burn could be 1100 calories or less. I teach on a big campus where I do a lot of walking, so on those days, I might get up to 1400. If I do kickboxing or a zumba workout, I could get to 1600 on a good day. By the way, if you are female and over 50, your metabolism is much slower than a younger person's.0

I have MFP set to give me 1000 calories a day and to do a negative fitbit adjustment. So on inactive days, I'm not eating at a deficit, just maintenance. MFP won't let you eat under 1000, and frankly, I can't get by on that little food. I try to stick to below 1200 on less active days. My whole experience with the fitbit is demonstrating why I'm plateau'ing because it's almost impossible to maintain a deficit when the "burn" is very small. I don't have a huge appetite, but 1000 calories is not a lot of food even if I choose wisely.0 -

For what it's worth, I'm 5' even, weigh 120 lbs and my average burn is 1900 calories. I try to get 10k steps in at least 5 days a week and I can usually get in 8k at work just by getting up every 30-60 minutes and doing a lap or two around the building I'm in.
Do you absolutely have to sit the whole time during the day? If you can take breaks, dedicate a few minutes just to walking around. It'll make a difference.

its for sure my lack of moving around.. i guess i didn't think walking a bit made that much of a difference in calories. I think I'm just surprised how little i burn... that is clearly because of how little i do. Ok so maybe not so surprised. I am however surprised how many extra calories 10k steps gets!0
