Hi there...I had problems with binging too! Its now so much more manageable since I've started practicing mindfulness when eating.
I guess its about control isn't it? We control so much that suddenly all it takes is a trigger for chaos to explode. But the thing is that its all in the mind. I myself am struggling to deal with the concept that its all about the mind and perception.
You may think that its all over with one, two, three, however many binges that you have had. But really what matters truly in the end is how you are taking progressive and positive steps to not only seek help, support and encouragement, but to try to make things work out well for yourself and your health!
So don't feel so badly about it. Failure isn't a be all or end all, its what you do when you face 'failure' that matters - success is multiple failures and the fact that you keep picking yourself up and dusting yourself off and saying "OK, what did I learn from this time? I CAN DO THIS."
Just a few weeks ago I binged on a massive kebab meal complete with dip soaked in oil, massive Turkish bread, two to three person's worth of chicken (depending on how big a eater those people are lol) and then polished off that monster with ice cream that was worth >400 cal. The entire thing would have been AT LEAST 2500-3000 calories. I regressed again the next day, and the next.
Then I picked myself up, tried my best to not use these 'failures' as a reason to stop, but as a reason to continue because there was so much more I can learn and strive for! And yes I managed to not gain that extra weight not because I starved myself as punishment but because I just didn't weigh myself that week after (didn't want to give myself an excuse to demotivate and get into a downward spiral of emotional eating) and just focussed on getting back into my routine for the next week, and staying within my NORMAL cheat meal routine during the weekend and healthily/disciplined during the week.
Keep trying, and you will get to where you want to be!!0 -
The only thing that can stop me in binges is to physically remove myself from food (leave the house to do errands or something) or start chewing gum. I can't mentally stop myself yet, but have been better able to analyze what was happening/what I should do next time to prevent them from becoming binges.0
