Doesn't matter what you eat; as long as you're in a caloric deficit you will lose weight.
It's quite unlikely that you're going to gain muscle while in a deficit because it requires a caloric surplus.

I find your post confusing. Do you:
1) lose weigt and reduce body fat
2) reduce bodyfat and keep the same weight
For option 1 you need to be at a calorie deficit and therefore it doesn't matter what you eat as long as it stays within your calories.
For option 2 you should eat at maintenance calories and have about 1 gram of proteins for every every lbs of LBM. (Correct me if I'm wrong). Other than eat what you want within your calories. (Check out recomposition thread in the maintenance section of this forum)
For option 1 you will gain little to no muscle. However, by incorporating strength training you'll loose less muscle through weightloss than without. (So percentage wise you'll have more muscle).0 -
Aslsmile ,, thanks for replying ,,wanting to loose weight (body fat) currently 18 lbs overweight right now
LBM is lean body mass ,,yeah now I don't know how to work that out ,, I read that if I'm let's say 156lbs I should be having 156 ounces of protein per day,, is that correct seems to high,, 25g (1 oz) don't you have to divide it or something to get correct grams per day
At the mo I'm including 100g of protein in my daily allowance
As for deficit that's totally confusing too right now0 -
OMG I HATE when people say you cannot gain muscle mass in a calorie deficit. If you are already lean that is true. If you are overweight that is NOT true. UGH. It IS true that you need to eat at a deficit to lose weight, so you can eat whatever you want as long as it is in a deficit for the day. The more fat and fiber something has, the more filling it is. I make smoothies with Greek yogurt and strawberries. When I make it with yogurt that has more fat in it, it fills me longer.0

It's just that I don't want to end up losing too much Muscle ,,
example after a long illness n taking meds that contributed to weight gain I went from being 9 n half stone my ideal weight
ballooned up to over 16 St ,, in two years I lost 7.5 stone ,, was 8.4 stone at my lowest,, took nearly a year to get to my healthy weight, i worked out at the gym ,,not good I know !,,,was overdoing it,, but I had so much energy, my metabolism was on override I think ,,, used to have at least 3000 cals a day,,,
Took ages to get lean muscle and get rid of the saggy skin that was left ,,,
Don't want the same thing happening again.
I guess it won't 2 stone not a lot of weight compared to 7.5 [
