When was your first weight loss attempt? Anyone else a constant dieter?

Just a casual conversation starter here. How old were you when you first attempted to lose weight? Anyone else have a history of being a repeat dieter?

My first weight loss attempt was at 16 when I started buying over the counter weight loss pills. I don't even think these supplements are available anymore, as they were full of ephedrine. From there it was a constant stream of fad diets and wasted money. I even did a medical weight management program TWICE through my HMO, which was so expensive and didn't really work. They had us on 900 calories a day of pretty much liquid.

I wish I could tell my younger self that there is no short, easy way and that the effort must be put in through sweat and nutrition. I also wish I would have loved myself more when I was younger. I wasn't very overweight as a teen but I felt I was. Oh how I wish I was that weight now!

I was practically born obese but played as much as my baby body could despite being born with no functioning legs. I consulted a nutritionist off and on to learn the basics thereafter, but it got bad in 7th grade. In response, I began bringing food/getting the cold item at school, and "delicious" (and all synonyms thereof) was considered a curse word at home. Fast forward to my freshman year at college, I gained "the freshman way more than 15" and was demanded to fast from breakfast to dinner to burn calories, having to choose wether I wanted lunch or dinner. I had stomachaches and fell asleep in PM classes/tutoring by doing that and made the huge mistake of sharing those feelings at home, being told to wear my big girl pants and get used to it. Later, though, they realized that I "have a point, there," and let me sip these nasty, fake shakes. Again, I got sleepy and ill (very queasy) on those, and made the mistake of opening up about that at home. More "big-girl-pants" speeches later, all 3 of us cooled off and apologized, and I got to take v8s to sip while laughing with my gal pals, which was better. Now, I bring something snack-y but substantial or go to LCU's wrap/hot sammie line, am allowed breakfast, lunch and dinner on class days, fit exercise around my busy life and have successfully dropped 29 lbs.
