Fat loss vs lbs

Since starting here in March, I've lost 39 lb. today was the first week, tho, that I didn't lose weight. Well, I did lose a whopping 1oz this week. But my smart scale measures fat, too, and this week it showed a drop the equivalent of 2.5 lb. This is good, right? I did bike quite a bit this week. I know, smart scale measure, nets of fat aren't truly accurate, but as I've lost weight, I've seen a loss in fat, too. Just hadn't seen such a significant loss of fat as I did this week.
So should I be encouraged or discouraged with these results?
Thanks. This is my first time posting to the group.

You should definitely be encouraged as you are probably buildings muscle which doesn't show up as a loss on the scale. A great way of viewing progress after initial loss, especially if you are working out, is taking measurements and hiding how your clothes are fitting you.0

Those scales aren't accurate. Just remember weight loss isn't linear. There could be many reasons why you didn't lose this week...sodium intake/hormones/etc.
What is your exercise routine?0 -
If you want to keep an idea of fat loss you need to get a measuring tape. You can find them in the craft/sewing department of any box store. Take your measurements once a week. If the scales don't move but your measurements have gone down then you've traded fat for muscle.0

Arditarose, I must have beaten the odds then because my weight loss was solidly linear for 16 consecutive weeks!
I ride my bike, energetically, for 30-60 minutes/day.
Yes, I understand measuring tapes - grinning here. I've gone down over two sizes in almost four months.
Yup, I think I did mention I know the scales aren't accurate, per se, but this was a significant drop this week, and that caught my attention. Typically I stay at a certain percentage for about a month and then drop down another percent.
Thanks all!0
