Portion Control?!?!

I have a terrible problem with portion control. I either eat less than 800 calories OR binge all day with probably around 3000 calories. Does anyone else have this problem, and what can I do to make healthier eating habits?

Weigh and record *everything* you eat and stop when you get to your calorie limit for the day. Pretty simple really.

See a psychiatrist. The internet can only help to an extent... and this doesn't look good.

Have you tried pre-logging? If you have a plan, it's easier to follow it.

Pre-log and weigh out all your food as much as possible.

I pre-log the whole day's worth of food the night before.

Once I realized that my weight gain had been mostly a matter of having no clue how much I was eating and how many calories were in a portion, portion control and food logging became easy. For me, it's all about "Knowledge is power". A Krispy Kreme chocolate frosted custard filled donut is 350 calories. Is it worth 1/4 of my daily baseline? Sometimes yes. I eat it, log it, and move on. I make more optimal choices (including both what I eat and how much I move!) the rest of the day (or week) or decide not to worry about an extra 250 calories or so on any one given day.

I eat about 1200 calories, and eat a higher than optimal percentage of fat calories. I've still lost 75 pounds.

It doesn't have to be "all or nothing" or miserable deprivation.
