Hey everyone, I've got two things for you if you're willing to help.

First, I'm going to try a very high protein diet to help retain muscle and make sure I'm losing mostly fat rather than fat and muscle. Any thoughts? My workouts are most cardio because I don't have access to weight lifting equipment for the next 6 months or so.

2nd, shouldn't my daily calorie goal be dropping as I lose weight? Is this something I need to adjust myself? I want to make sure I'm on the right track. I've gone from 325 to 307 so far and my calorie goal has stayed the same.

I don't know how high protein you're talking about (I aim for 1 gram per pound of LBM, which puts me a bit over 100 grams a day), but as for the goal, MFP should have prompted you to update your calories after losing ten pounds.

mfp should automatically recalculate it for you after you enter your new weight

Look into body only exercises for strength training. Additionally, yes your calories will adjust as you lose.

So how is your body deciding to not munch on it's muscles when you heat high protein but not do any exercise for your muscles to go with it?
