Gained a whole deal of weight through a tough season in my life

I learned that eating to comfort pain or get over a struggle is not the best decision. We need to eat for our physical need but not to meet our emotional need. I end up gaining 20 lbs in 2014 to now. I lost 5 lbs so far and now I am determine to eat healthy, exercise, and not use unhealthy food as a medicine for pain or struggles. If you have any advice, can relate to my problem, or testimony, feel free to share.
