Is it okay to drink protien shake for cardio , or are they only for lifting weights. And if only for lifting weights how often should I drink a shake if I lift weights 3 times a week for about 1 hour per day. Thanx

Protein shakes are to increase your protein intake if you can't get enough through food. You don't need them to do a certain type of exercise.
I compete in bodybuilding, lift weights 6 times a week and rarely use protein powder as I prefer to eat food.0 -
It's true that you don't really need them if you get enough protein in your diet. However, there is nothing wrong with drinking them on your cardio days if you want/need a little extra. I drink a protein shake every day and don't have any problems with it.0

You can drink a protein shake any time you want to meet your protein goal. Some lifters try to drink a protein shake during the 30-60 minute "window" after a workout, but that doesn't mean you can't drink it during other times.0

+1 to everything above.
Protein in general will help you retain some muscles while at caloric deficit and you can either get your protein through foods or supplements - your choice.0 -
Thanx guys for the great information0
