Nice hitting up the pool today as my stroke is starting to feel a bit more comfortable and sustainable. Planning another mile tomorrow in the pool which should make the month-end goal a bit more attainable. I may sign up for a set of tune-up lessons going into my next tri, but I suspect training volume will help more with speed.

Decided to suck it up and do some speedwork in the Florida heat/humidity this afternoon. Still, did about 1/2 the distance as usual and just went for faster/shorter 400s to avoid heat-stroke. Also had a good swim today as I was finally getting into a bit more of a rhythm and my technique wasn't falling apart at the end of the session (vs. usual). I'm still struggling with head position as I've gotten a bit more muscular and am sinking more, so keeping my hairline at water level feels a bit unnatural. I'll figure it out eventually.

    7/1 - 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6 mile run
    7/2 - 6 mile run (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-1-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 7 min/mile), 15 mile bike

    7/5 - 13 mile run, 18 mile bike
    7/6 - 1 mile swim, 23 mile bike, 25 min weights, 6.5 mile run
    7/7 - 7 mile run, 0.5 mile swim, 11 mile bike
    7/8 - 11 mile bike
    7/9 - 6 mile run (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-1-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 6:52 min/mile), 30 min lift, 0.5 mile swim, 11 mile bike
    7/10 - 11 mile bike, 6 mile run
    7/11 - 39 mile bike, 5.5 mile run
    7/12 - 10.5 mile run, 12 mile bike
    7/13 - 8.5 mile run
    7/14 - 5 mile run
    7/15 - 20 mile bike, 30 min lift, 4 mile run
    7/16 - 5.5 mile run (6x800s @ 6:40/mile on treadmill), 0.5 mile swim

    7/18 - 45 min lift, 5 mile run
    7/19 - 3 mile run, 12 mile bike
    7/20 - 52 mile bike, 0.5 mile swim
    7/21 - 45 min lift, 7 mile bike, 5 mile run
    7/22 - 1 mile swim, 20 mile bike, 5 mile run
    7/23 - 1 mile swim, 3.5 mile run (w. 5x400s @ 5:45/mile pace in Florida mid-day summer heat), 30 min lift

Back north the past few days, but further west than usual, where the air has been hot, but at least dryer. Did a very fast 4 miler tonight near Crazy Horse at sunset after 50 miles of trail riding earlier on the bike. Although they say running at elevation can be a challenge, the cooler weather more than made up for it, as my heart rate here doing an 8.5 minute pace at 5,000 feet was on par with where it sits on my 10 minute/mile pace runs down in the Florida heat/humidity.

    7/1 - 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6 mile run
    7/2 - 6 mile run (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-1-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 7 min/mile), 15 mile bike

    7/6 - 1 mile swim, 23 mile bike, 25 min weights, 6.5 mile run
    7/7 - 7 mile run, 0.5 mile swim, 11 mile bike
    7/8 - 11 mile bike
    7/9 - 6 mile run (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-1-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 6:52 min/mile), 30 min lift, 0.5 mile swim, 11 mile bike

Soooooo....yesterday, I sat glued to the live feed for Ironman Lake Placid, watching my coach and several of my teammates complete the race of their lives. And it got me thinking about maybe....possibly....doing a full IM. It would definitely NOT be next year - I'd be divorced for sure....but maybe if I do a light schedule next year (like 3 sprints/olys instead of 6 and a relay - two of which were 70.3's), I could convince the hubs to let me do Placid for my 40th bday in 2017? or maybe a "destination" race - that we could stay a few days after for a mini vaca? tho we could do that for placid too..

@gobonas99 yesterday I brought up the notion of doing Mallorca HIM next year. Previous mentions had not been met too well. Talk of 'taking a break from it all' etc.

I casually suggested that she could relax on the beach whilst I run round for half a day, it seemed to get a slightly better response...

    Ima gunna keep working it

@csman49 - in all seriousness, IF I were to do 140.6, it would probably need to be the ONLY race I did that season, simply to "keep the peace" at home. And with the training time involved, I really don't know that I'd have the support on the home front to put in the necessary time.

I've already talked myself down. LOL! I'm nowhere near ready for something like that. I wouldn't want to be squeaking in just under the 17 hour mark, which is probably where I'd be at this point. I need a LOT more work on my running (both in endurance and speed). There is a race in my area that is 18.12 miles (so almost midway between a half and a full marathon). I'm thinking I work on speed over the next year, and throw that race in as a "test" for distance. then maybe work toward a full marathon in 2017. There's also a "100 mile tri" that is a 1 mile swim (or in the likely event that the swim is cancelled, a 1 mile trail run), an 84 mile bike, and a 15 mile run (road)....that may be an option for 2018 or 2019.

OMG! My tri-suit arrived today. Went to collect it from marketing dept, and she asked what size i'd ordered, so i said Large. She commented that i'd be back for a medium.... (don't think so, i was torn between L or XL).

Went to try it on at lunch, the cut of it was pushing my moobs up and out, so i had hanging bits! The neck was tight around my throat! I was thinking, i'll be going back for an XL.

Dammit. I had it on backwards, and the zip goes up the back! (i had been asking myself why such a long zipper cord...)

Still pretty damn snug on me, but my moobs look much better now. I think it'll loosen slightly after a few sessions in it.

Wow... I don't log in for 3 days while out exploring the midwest, and two of you are already planning to ditch the families to become full iron(wo)men... clearly, I've been away too long. Doing my first full IM next Fall, but as a retiree, I have a bit more time to train here :)

3 days to go in the month, and down to a HIM of mileage. I'll see what I can knock out tomorrow, but running more than 5 miles at a time in Florida this time of year is a bit of a chore.

After a bunch of biking & running the past 2 days, I just have some lifting & swimming to do tomorrow to hit my target. Almost there. May do some more running as well, as 150 is a bit better sounding of a number, but I'll play that by ear.

    7/1 - 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6 mile run
    7/2 - 6 mile run (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-1-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 7 min/mile), 15 mile bike
    7/3 - 5 mile run, 71 mile bike
    7/4 - 30 min weights, 0.5 mile swim, 11 mile bike
    7/5 - 13 mile run, 18 mile bike
    7/6 - 1 mile swim, 23 mile bike, 25 min weights, 6.5 mile run
    7/7 - 7 mile run, 0.5 mile swim, 11 mile bike
    7/8 - 11 mile bike
    7/9 - 6 mile run (w. 0.25-0.5-0.75-1-0.75-0.5-0.25 pyramid @ 6:52 min/mile), 30 min lift, 0.5 mile swim, 11 mile bike
    7/10 - 11 mile bike, 6 mile run
    7/11 - 39 mile bike, 5.5 mile run
    7/12 - 10.5 mile run, 12 mile bike
    7/13 - 8.5 mile run
    7/14 - 5 mile run
    7/15 - 20 mile bike, 30 min lift, 4 mile run
    7/16 - 5.5 mile run (6x800s @ 6:40/mile on treadmill), 0.5 mile swim
    7/17 - 4 mile bike, 0.5 mile swim
    7/18 - 45 min lift, 5 mile run
    7/19 - 3 mile run, 12 mile bike
    7/20 - 52 mile bike, 0.5 mile swim
    7/21 - 45 min lift, 7 mile bike, 5 mile run
    7/22 - 1 mile swim, 20 mile bike, 5 mile run
    7/23 - 1 mile swim, 3.5 mile run (w. 5x400s @ 5:45/mile pace in Florida mid-day summer heat), 30 min lift
    7/24 - 3 mile run

@gobonas99 we should run off together, would make much simpler than trying to keep the peace at home! Apparently, my training effects home life... what?? I do all my training during lunch time when i'm at work!! (or commuting to/from work) :D:D

@csman49 - Do you like cats? I have 4. Two of my teammates are married - they do most of their training together and both just did Ironman Lake Placid. It is awesome. :) It helps that there daughter is 13 and old enough to stay home alone :)
Wow... I don't log in for 3 days while out exploring the midwest, and two of you are already planning to ditch the families to become full iron(wo)men... clearly, I've been away too long. Doing my first full IM next Fall, but as a retiree, I have a bit more time to train here :)

@Ohhim - 3 days is far too long to be out of touch...you miss too much LOL ;) The job is not the issue (though it would be nice if training was my job LOL). The hubs is a disabled vet, so he's home by himself ALL day with just the cats. :/
My little boy saw me in my trisuit, he's convinced that its a superhero costume and that daddy is a secret superhero. I wore it today for my commute, and he said "daddy, are you off to save the day??" :D:D

    LOVE it! :D

I have to tell you that I have been "lurking" this month. Thanks for the inspiration and mostly for the chuckles.
