Bulk protein powder

I often blend my whey and casein 1:1 as I prefer that for my shakes (I do a morning, post workout, and evening). I am about to order more whey since I'm out but have a surplus of my ON casein.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with buying bulk protein supplements rather than ON or whatever brand out there. if I'm mixing them anyway I'm wondering if I could just get a bulk whey protein isolate at a cheaper price per pound or is sticking with ON my best bet.

Do you find it hard to get your macros from food?

Just buy a quality blend. There is no logic in buying 5 lbs. of isolate and 5 lbs. of casein, then mixing it yourself.

Unless you've got a surplus of the casein, as the OP stated.

I'll buy a blend if the price is right, but most of the time it's more cost effective for me to buy separately and mix.

Blends are typically cheaper. I don't see how buying them a la carte is more cost-effective. It's also more of a hassle to mix them.

I think my question is more around the lines of is bulk, no name brand "90% clean whey protein isolate" as good as buying Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard whey (rather than can I mix my own- I know I can mix my own). Bulksupplements and a couple other companies sell en masse much cheaper so I'm wondering if there is a drop off in quality.

This post was originally placed in the fitness area to avoid thread creep into "why not just eat them,""do you not know how to hit your macros," and "just fill your orange protein box up six times and that's your protein goal." With all due respect to 21 day fix folks, of course.

This site has gained a pretty good reputation as a go-to source for vetting protein > https://labdoor.com/rankings/protein

As you can see there are a number of brands ranked higher in value than ON Gold Standard.

I wouldn't buy the majority of those, especially the top 10. PES Select and XF Ultra Peptide 2.0 would crush all of these and more.

Protein is protein assuming it is not being spiked with fillers, or if you are lactose intolerant. The average person should mainly be looking for good taste and an affordable price.
