First nice to meet you all and I look forward to getting to know ya'll a bit. Now, a little about my weight story.
I hit an all-time high of 245lbs in Dec of last year and had an 'oh *kitten*' moment when I realized I had gained 45lbs in only 2 years and a total of 70lbs in 5 years. I didn't think I was all that bad until I wrote the numbers down and did the math. That is what happens when one goes from exercising 3-5 days a week for years to a complete stop. It was injury related plus depression and feeling sorry for myself, then lack of motivation. Yes, I did a lot of introspection after stepping on that scale. Ideally I want to get down to 135 which I haven't seen in 19yrs, but below 200 is my first goal.
So anyways, I started moving again and cutting down portions and from Jan to April I lost 20lbs. However I only lost 2lbs since then. It is shocking how easy it is to gain back in only a few days what it took weeks to lose! I need motivational help because all I want to do is eat to feel better. Food is my comfort when I'm feeling down or bored, which is the hardest habit to break! Any advice to get past this plateau and get motivated again?

Since you lost that 20 pounds, you probably need to evaluate how much you're eating and how much you're exercising. Have you been logging food and calories? At this point you have to cut back from what you've been eating since April. OR add in more exercise.
It sounds like you need to find something that keeps your hands busy, so you're not eating when you're bored. Have you considered a craft? Or some other activity that won't allow mindless snacking.0
