What's your favorite food to eat at a picnic?
We decided every Sunday we are going to have a picnic but are stuck on food ideas. It has to be something that tastes good cold. Kid friendly and I don't care about the calories.

Chicken salad! I make a mock-Subway Orchard Chicken salad and it's so good.0

PB&J, fresh fruit, veggies, yogurt, string cheese, pasta salads made with italian dressing no mayo (tri colored spirals with diced tomato, onion and peppers with pepperoni and cheese chunks tossed in italian dressing is one my daughter loves)

pasta salad. I like the Suddenly Salad in a box and I add tomatoes and cucumbers to it. I also like pimento cheese sandwiches on or crackers. I know you said calories don't matter but for lighter things I love fruit salad. I use apples, grapes, strawberries and mandarin oranges from a can. I squeeze a lemon over chopped fruit. This keeps the apples from browning and I pour a little of the orange juice over the top as well and just toss together. Enjoy your picnics.0

I have two favorite go-to's: Greek Pasta Salad (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Greek-Pasta-Salad-I/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=greek pasta salad i&e8=Quick Search&event10=1&e7=Recipe&soid=sr_results_p1i1) which I generally make with chicken instead of the salami and a great Quinoa salad (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Zesty-Quinoa-Salad/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=zesty quina&e8=Quick Search&event10=1&e7=Recipe&soid=sr_results_p1i1)0

If you don't care about the calories, ciabatta sliced and fried in garlic infused olive oil, keeps nice and crispy to be used with a spiced hummus dip later on.

Doing a hummus and veggie platter is always fun. There are some great hummus varieties and flavors.

We go to a regular event in the summer time at the botanical gardens where we bring picnic food and booze - love it! Sandwiches are obviously the easiest thing, but I get a little bored with that, to be honest. Sometimes I pack sandwiches for the kids and then something more fun for husband and I. Here are some of the things we bring:
Cheese, Crackers, Salami/Proscuitto
Hummus and Pita Chips
Fried Chicken (we often pick this up a day ahead of time because while I like hot chicken, and cold chicken, I don't like barely warm fried chicken...). When I do that I usually get a pack of chicken tenders for the kids. I don't eat coleslaw but husband does so we get that sometimes too.

I always bring fruit and something fun for dessert.
Sometimes I do sandwiches but get pretzel slider buns, roast beef, cheddar and horseradish sauce instead of my normal turkey and swiss on sliced wheat sandwich bread...
Cold bottle of white wine and plastic wine tumblers....
Blanket, bug spray, sunscreen!
Have fun!
