hey guys, I've lost 9 kg for a good 6 months now, and im really happy with my results, right now im currently trying to maintain my weight, I'm fasting for a day, not as a diet but as a Christian due to my believes religiously. And I was wondering. Will that ruin my metabolism and crash it? I've always heard your body goes on starvation mode and holds onto fats so will I gain weight after the fast? Advice please and add me as well always happy to have more company with me in this lifestyle of mine to be healthy

...... no.
I fast for a few hours daily (dinner until lunch next day) and I'm starving.
I really don't see any religious reason to fast for 24+ hours.0 -
Your body certainly won't go in to 'starvation mode' (if you read a lot of posts this has been proved to be a myth anyway). Research is saying fasting should have a positive effect on your metabolism. Maybe worth looking at some of the 5:2 posts.0

You're a Christian who does fasting. hmmm I guess I don't remember that in the bible throughout the years and years of my parents forcing me to go to church.0

One day isn't going to hurt your metabolism.0

Starvation mode is a myth, forget about it.
Fasting can be very beneficial, in fact there are a couple of groups on here dedicated to regular fasting.0 -
Starvation mode is not a myth, it is very real, however it takes a lot longer to get there then the dieting world would have you believe. You are fine. Nothing bad will happen to your metabolism from occasional fasting...0
