What am I doing wrong?

I thought I did we'll last week, maybe not perfect, but pretty good. Here are my numbers of calories eaten vs. exercise calories, but I didn't lose any weight at all! I'm so frustrated right now.

Sat - 1,324 - 600 cals burned
Sun - 1,676 - 600 cals burned
Mon - 1,505 - 0 cals burned
Tues - 1,650 - 900 cals burned
Wed - 1,160 - 600 cals burned
Thurs - 1,340 - 0 cals burned
Fri - 2,408 - 550 cals burned

My calories burned is from my HRM but I deducted about 20% from what it actually calculated. My exercise was from walking. I drink only water and got penty each day. My sodium was fairly low each day - Friday was a bad day, we ate Chinese takeout but I did walk for nearly an hour after dinner. MFP calorie goal is 1,530.

I weighed 247.6 on Monday and bounced around that number all week. This morning I was at 248! My BMR for a week is 15,050 and I consumed 11,055 and burned 3,250 through exercise. The difference is 7,245, that's almost 2 pounds, but I ain't seeing it!

Any ideas?

    Sodium = Chinese

    Drink water.

Are those you gross or net calories?

Chinese food is usually high in sodium. Might have gained some water weight from it. Best to weigh yourself before having cheat meal.

Where are you at in your cycle? If you menstruate and are on, just started, or just finished your period it's likely you will have no weight loss and even a weight gain due to water weight.

How is your sodium intake? Salty foods cause me to retain water.

Sometimes no matter what you do your body won't release excess weight. Weight loss is not linear. You might go weeks with little to no weight loss, then bam, drop 4 pounds at once.

Edited to add: oh yes it's definitely the Chinese food!! VERY high in sodium.

Are you taking measurements of your body as well or relying solely on the scale?

I ask this because my weight loss journey has been a lot of plateaus on the scale and the sudden drops in weight, or even yo-yoeing up and down HOWEVER my measurements were getting smaller all the time. If you're exercising, then you are probably building muscle, so it's a good idea to take measurements as well. The scale tells only part of the story.

    Hang in there! :flowerforyou:

This. Also, what was your macro breakdown for the week? If you were high carb, that might also mask your weight (fat loss). Carbs and water is about 1:4 ratio. For every gram of carbs we store 3-4 grams of water (that's a good thing) Don't fret. You could have lost fat, but may not see the scale change. Again, weight loss isn't linear... that would be too easy ha! Its frustrating, but keep working hard. The only other concern could be that you arent burning as many calories walking as you think, and that the chinese food calories were higher than you calculated.

More time. And unless you have an open diary, no one can really evaluate your food choices to see possible reasons.

Did you weigh yourself at the same time of day? Did you go to the bathroom or drink water before your weigh-in? Fair amount of sodium the night before? TOM? There are lots of reasons you wouldn't lose weight in just one week.

I wouldn't sweat it. If you're not eating crap and are accurately logging exercise and food, then you're on the right track.

Thanks for the replies. I just walked for an hour and my spirits have been lifted!

I worry that my HRM isn't accurate, so I take only 80% of the calories it says I've burned. My walks are not leisurely. I walk up and down my road, to the cul de sac and back. The way up is an incline and I can really feel it. I stay somewhere between 70-85% of my max heart rate most of the walk.

I've lost 90 pounds over the past few years, very slowly - but I just gained about 25 of it back since last fall. I'm trying get it off, but it seems so much harder than before.
