Do you wear earbuds while weight lifting?

General question. If so, what are you listening to?

I actually have a playlist for each muscles group, I'm kinda weird. I like to listen to classical music when lifting with big muscles, like chest, back. The smaller muscles I like up beat stuff. Anything with the legs I like Latin music, a lot of Zouk.

i have headphones that wrap around my ears (can't stand buds, and they have a tendency to fall out when my ears start to get sweaty) when i'm at the gym...

usually, i listen to something with a hard tempo to keep myh pace up. Carmen, Rebecca St James, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Skillett are usually pretty great for that. :)

I listen to podcasts while I exercise. I take out my ear buds when I deadlift and do overhead press. Some times I'll take them out for squats if I want to concentrate.

Absolutely, noise-canceling ones. Can't lift without them--I would have to listen to gym music! [shudder]

What's on them: either a podcast or, if I'm out of those, Sepultura or Rammstein or similar. Nothing more cerebral seems to go with lifting. I tried Brahms and John Cage's 4:33, it just doesn't have the same effect.

Haha, oh my god I'm imagining a power snatch with O' Fortuna in the background. Truely terrifying.

(O' Fortuna) Lift occurs @ 1:36 .... Think about it.

    Haha, this is great!

I've never tried classical music....I mostly listen to music when I'm doing cardio as the beat keeps me going - I listen to those Running Trax compilations from Ministry of Sound.

Weights - I will listen to whatever takes my fancy, rock seems to work well for getting that aggression to lift :P sometimes I'll listen to something chilled out or trancy as well.

I've about had enough of the Pop 2K and what ever other hit music Sirus station they like to play. Crappy Macklemore music came on and killed my adrenaline buzz and focus the other day so I've been trying to decided how to pull off headphones without tangling myself up! It would be, as with the time I spend on the elliptical AC/DC and only AC/DC...Bon Scott and Brian Johnson both.

I have bluetooth buds. I listen to novels while I lift and while I run. If I'm learning a new routine I switch to music. Usually something alternative.

I have my own gym in my garage now... so no. But when I did workout in a public gym, I always had to have music playing.

As a matter of fact, I normally used the shape of the music to guide my intensity. For example:

    - When a song is slow, I'm resting
    - When the song is building, I'm readying myself
    - When it climaxes, I'm going off like a crazy person

    rinse and repeat.

As for my playlist... generally it's Metal, but there's also some rap in the form of Eminem and Royce Da 5'9" as well as dub step from Skrillex and more.

    My primary groups would be:
    PANTERA
    OTEP
    SLIPKNOT
    SYSTEM OF A DOWN
    KORN
    LIMP BIZKIT
    SEPULTURA (and spin off bands)

    Good mix.
I like Linkin Park. It just works for me and the time goes by faster.

I can't wear ear buds, they irritate the hell out of my ears. I think my ears are too small or something. I do have bluetooth headphones. I listen to 70's and 80's punk and goth while lifting usually. Joy Division, Siouxsie, Buzzcocks, Ramones, The Clash, Nick Cave, Adam Ant, Christian Death, etc. Sometimes I can't help but do a little dance in between sets.

Absolutely! Unless I'm outdoors working out, I've always got music going. And it is basically always Coheed and Cambria.

I wear earbuds regardless of the exercise in question. Lifting, cardio, whatever. Top 40 is my go-to. The cheesier the better. We're talking Bieber here, folks.
