Heavier after lifting

Question - is it normal to be or feel heavier a day after heavy lifting? I am not talking about significant weight gain, but maybe an ounce or two? some bloating? I thought I read somewhere that this is normal because the muscles retain water or something...?

Yes, it's normal. I am always up 3+ pounds the day after lifting. This is from fluid build up in the muscles as they repair.0

Ah okay, thanks! I thought that was the case but needed confirmation

I don't make a habit of weighing myself so I'm not sure what the weight difference is but yeah I can always tell there's an extra little something the day after I lift! then a couple of days later it dissapears as if by magic and It appears that I'm slimmed down even further from where I started. It's all good... I love lifting!0 -
I don't weigh but once every month or two now but I sure can see the difference with lovely swollen muscles. I too love lifting.

I would never notice a few ounces. I lift 4 times a week so I wouldn't notice a fluctuation either I guess as I only have one day in between strength training. My clothes always fit the same, I never notice things seeming tight.0

I only notice a small difference in the way my clothes fit/hang on me the next day. I lift three times per week, one day off in between three and then two rest days.0
