Hi everyone, hope you can help me with this! I have been using starva app to calculate my walking distance but using iPhone step calculator to automatically sync my calories to MFP.. Today I did 5.1 km in 54 mins and the total calorie calculated through iPhone/ MFP was 248 but Strava app suggests 491 calories... Which one do you think is correct? At the moment I have used the 248 so I am within my calorie consumption... But would like to know!

Thanks all :)

There's a whole gamut of things that could affect the accuracy of this... your stats like weight can affect it, inclines, fitness level, etc.

A good rule of thumb I've heard is to use the estimate of 100 calories per mile. You basically walked 3 miles. So I'd be conservative and go with the 248.

At 5'7 and 132 pounds, a 5 k walk in 50 minutes burns around 210 calories for myself. It really depends on your stats.

Ahhhh that's great both! I will go with 248 for definite... Rather be conservative... :) 491 did feel a bit excessive!

.53 times your body weight... per mile will get you close.
