Hey guys☺ first off I love MFP its great!! Could use some more friends here..anybody can add me☺
Ok...my health condition is gastric paresis..takes my stomach 3-4 hours to digest food. Average I think is 1-1.5..
My problem is I don't feel hungry often. I force myself to eat a lot of the times. My Dr has me drinking ensure to make sure I'm getting my vitamins and stuff. Between that and a hysterectomy making my hormones INSANE I'm having a HARD time with weight loss

If you can't eat, how is weight loss a problem? Seems like weight gain would be the problem.0

My guess would be that because of your low intake you have slowed your metabolism way down. How many calories are you eating per day?

I've never met a person with gastroparesis that struggles with weight loss…
I have severe Crohn's disease and before I started treatment, I had an extremely difficult time keeping weight on. I was significantly underweight.
Chances are you're eating more calories than you think you are. Do you weigh your food using a food scale?0 -
How did you come to need to lose 83 pounds?0

I don't weigh and need to. I always went by measuring. Not a good idea I see. I'm having a hard time I think because the hysterectomy messed up my hormones..suddenly..not gradually. I do have an under active thyroid. Tomorrow I'm finding a new gyno to help with this. Maybe that will help...I hope. As soon as that surgery happened I gained weight like crazy. I was 135lbs before it.0

Sometimes I can eat. But when it flares up I'm on liquid diet..I recently saw a nutritionist that suggested it until it settles down. She said make sure to drink Boost or Ensure for vitamins, calories and nutrients. Frolicking I'm sorry to hear about Crohns!! I've heard its a very rough disease. I feel for you :neutral0

I still don't undertand what your problem is, but I wish you the best of luck in resolving it.0 -
Thyroid and hormonal issues can seriously affect the calories out part of your CICO equation
Get adequate medication to get that under control ... might take a while but you'll find it easier once you do
So- weigh everything
- move more
- lift heavy things and put them down again
- follow it accurately for 8 weeks, average out your weight loss and judge against your weight loss target .. this will give you a better idea of your TDEE
- - note with medication this is going to change, so just keep doing it
