I would set yourself as sedentary and log your walks as exercise.

Only eat back about 50% of your exercise calories to start though. MFP tends to overestimate.

if it is actual EXERCISE it should not be counted as daily activity. (unless you are going by TDEE but it doesn't sound that way)

i have my activity set as sedentary but I'm FAR from sedentary ;) LOLOLOL

Are your walks included in your putting around? Or in addition to? If you are taking away from your daily activity to walk several miles, then yes, include that in you exercise. I've seen too many cases where someone working at Walmart wears a fitbit and counts all those calories as additional.
