Strength Training Routine For Weight Loss

I'm about 3 weeks into my dedicated workout routine and am pretty familiar with machines at the gym. I've been researching the best way to approach weight loss and everything I read says to combine strength training and cardio. That's my plan. I also read that splitting up muscle groups each workout is the best, but I just read an article that said only working out one group a day is ineffective because you go an entire week before working out again.
I workout 5 days a week and Wednesdays and Thursdays are my off day. Can anyone recommend a a routine that separates each group? Like day one chest and abs, etc. Or does anyone have suggestions on the best strength training routine?

honestly, calorie deficit for weight loss. Strength training/exercise/cardio for body comp and overall health. You cannot out train a caloric surplus.
That being said, I would suggest looking into a beginner routine like strong lifts, new rules of lifting for woman, all pro beginner, or starting strength. Learn proper form of the big compound movements by watching some videos on you tube and practicing them. You can also do cardio on your off lifting days.
