Breast feeding and gaining weight

so I started with this app while I was pregnant and managed to get to 135 which was great for me. As soon as I had the baby I dropped the weight immediately. I now weigh 103 and I am 5'4. My goal weight is 115 however even with me at 2500 calorie intake daily I am having trouble gaining, especially with me breast feeding. I don't do any cardio due to my fast metabolism just basic yoga. Any tips would help. I also am not able to do protein shakes due to my breastfeeding.

I haven't had your problem of trying to gain weight. But I have breastfed 4 kids. I would stick to foods that keep your supply up and avoid foods that cause it to go down. While breastfeeding you are burning calories so you need to increase your calories more than normal. I would suggest to eat something every time you feed. Make some higher fat snacks that you can grab when you know you'll be feeding. I made lactation cookies (my first batch was awful but I tweaked it and actually didn't mind them). If you have time plan your meals ahead that would be a great way to see if you are getting enough calories for the day so you will know how much to snack. Good luck!!

I have so much trouble gaining either way. My metabolism is extremely high and it makes it so hard to gain or even keep weight on. 3AAnn3

Yea defiantly this is my third baby and I recently started breast feeding again so I'm pumping every two hours. Food is my best friend lol and I have seen lots of recipes for lactation cookies on Pinterest as well. Thanks for the advice ☺️ Swanson83

If you can find the time to make them, "lactation cookies" are high calorie, high fat snacks. When I made the recipe, it worked out to be about 735 calories per cookie. 63g fat, 40g carbs, 12g fiber, 12g protein.

This comes from a thread in the maintaining weight subforum of a mommy that is going through the same thing.

I spoke with my pediatrician he said whey is no good for the baby however I did see that they carry soy protein at the grocery store. I go to see the pediatrician again today and I will ask but thanks for the advice ladies
