Weight vs strength question

Second week at gym...
MWF 3 sets of highest weight I can lift, 12 reps if I can.... 30 min cardio....all muscle groups.
I am getting results already, I see the change happening, and the scale is going up not down....
What results will I get from my current workout?

That depends on:
a) your goals
b) your diet

I am 240 lbs, trying to lose weight and tone, not planning on entering any weight contests. I have started gaining weight, and seeing muscle definition. Been working on diet... I picked that routine, because it worked when I was in college. It was the one the instructor gave me. But, I didn't have weight to lose, and I lost inches not weight...toning me all the way up. I am at a different phase in life, trying to figure out, what is going to work now....0

Trial And Error. You Have A Great Starting Point, Give It A Shot And If Doesn't Work, Than Maybe Consider Changing It Up0

if you're getting results, don't worry about the scale, the changes will show in the mirror0

if you enjoy the workout then keep at it and see what happens - at this point in my life my health is most important. I've never been an active person unless I was trying to lose weight. working a stressful 12 hour rotating shift with a lot of callout has done a number on me and I'm dealing with weight and liver and blood pressure issues along with stress and hard time sleeping. I started off walking and kept at it even when I wasn't sure I would see results. finally saw them after a couple of weeks. as the weight came off (I'm almost 50 lbs down and would like to lose at least another 35) and as I lost weight I added in other execise dvds I've had and bought some new ones- I always liked Leslie Sansone and a few yoga dvds - added jessica smith, classical stretch, qi gong, ellen barrett..just a mixture of things then some kelly coffey-meyer for weights and discovered I reallylike margaret richard (body electric days) for weights and toning...so I mix things up. sometimes bounce or jump or walk on my rebounder. so far the weight keeps coming down but has slowed here and there but I just try to do some of each type of exercise- stretching, toning, weights, cardio - during the week. I have a work physical coming up this month and next month for the other half and hopefully will see good results. if so I plan to keep doing what I"m doing - if not then I need to see my doctor and see if I should tweak something. since what I'm doing now is stuff I enjoy I'll keep it up so long as it's working.0

Thanks, and good luck on your physical.

The scale going up mixed with heavy lifting hopefully means you are building muscle. Of course that depends on nutrition as well. More muscle means more calories burned everyday which is a good thing. Also remove the word "tone" from your vocabulary. Keep doing what you're doing for a while and then change it up to a more weight loss centered program. Lifting lighter weights for more reps and reducing calorie intake.0
