How to eat healthy when out with friends?

When I'm out with my friends they always eat unhealthy and I do too. It's hurting my progress any tips

Eating 'unhealthy' doesn't hinder your weight loss. Too many calories does. Stop labeling foods healthy and unhealthy... everything is unhealthy in abundance.0

Pick a low calorie option. Are you going to a chain restaurant? Because they will usually have nutritional information on their website or on the menu.
Get a salad or something, ask for no oil in cooking etc... seems that everyone is scared to go out and eat with their friends while trying to lose weight.0 -

It's hard. I just try to focus on my long term goals and that I don't want to undo my good work. I pick the best possible option, offer to be the DD so I can't drink and try not to stare at their plates!0

It is hard - but it depends on the kind of friends you'e going out with. Are they the type that will mock you if you have 'healthy' choices, and so you're ordering what they do to avoid that kind of thing? If so, that's a tough one - I'd suggest ordering your meal, in full knowledge of what calories you're consuming. As others have said, factor that into your count for the day (perhaps have very light breakfast and lunch), or simply allow yourself one meal where you blow your calorie allowance, but get straight back on with better choices the next day.
If they're supportive friends, but you still worry about overeating, learn to read your 'I'm full' signals, and stop eating when you feel full. Get a waiter to take your plate away, and it isn't left sitting in front of you. Leaving stuff on a plate isn't a bad thing - you can get a box to take out leftovers for the next day's lunch, or simply allow yourself not to scrape a plate clean!
My tips - order soup for your first course. Unless it's a cream soup (there's normally a veg based option on most menus), you'll be consuming way fewer calories than almost any other choice. Avoid bread/breadsticks on the table - that way lies many uncounted calories, I've found! Go for any 'light' options that the menu gives you - grilled fish, chicken etc, and make smart choices about your side dishes.0 -
Have a talk with them. Tell them your needs: what restaurants will be helpful to you for example.
And then order low-ish calorie items. Skip the salads (they can be huge calorie bombs) and the desserts.0 -
Do you go out? If so pick a lower calorie option. Pro tip = the lower calorie stuff on menus is just as tasty as the high calorie stuff (sometimes even tastier, IMO).
Do you eat at their place? Offer to bring some food and/or snacks, and bring a nice salad and fruit.0 -
i usually stick with a grilled or baked chicken/fish and a vegetable side
I've been finding around here, restaurants have been labeling things either as under calorie amount-like 600, or adding the calorie count with it.0 -
