Hello everyone. . I found this site about 30 minutes ago and I was curious to know how it works. I'm 5'2 I weigh 238 this is the heaviest I've ever been in my whole life. I need a change and its time. What can I do to get back on track? What has worked for you? Suggestions, and pointers are greatly appreciated. .

Hi, this website is great (and I've tried lots of weight loss programmes). ultimately you have to do it for yourself and as long as you eat less than you burn you will lose weight. I prefer some structure so like tracking my food, it keeps me on track and makes me think twice about eating something if I work out it's calories first. so....I know all that but I'm still on here trying to lose weight? It's not easy and there will be bumps in the road along the way, but also remember it's not a race, it won't happen overnight but in a year's time do you want to weigh less and feel better or still be where you are now? Go on and do it! you can add me for support also check out this post, I have it saved to keep checking my calorie intake http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12. Good luck - Karen0

My main pointers would be to log everything, make sure you weigh your food so you aren't over-estimating it, try to drink lots of water or herbal teas, get some walking in for starters most days walking as fast as you can, get lots of friends on here.. preferably ones you look up to or that will make life fun while you do this because it is a long term thing and not a diet, use vegetables for their fibre and thus fills you up for very little calories, eat enough protein because it'll fill you up too and help you keep your muscles, don't be scared of foods with healthy fats like avocado, nuts, oily fish like salmon, tuna, sardines, herrings etc.. , extra virgin olive oil/ coconut and it's oil and don't eat "diet" foods too much real foods as close to natural form as possible MOST of the time but treats are OK too now and then. If you get to strict with yourself you'll end up giving in or binge. Oh and don't do 1200 calories or less because as many of us have found that's why we are still dieting decades latter... it isn't a good idea.0
