Want to start the Gym again. Will it be okay for me?

I recently had a major abdominal surgery (12 week's ago ) and put on 7 kilos. I've already lost 3.5 kilos but the weight loss has really slowed down and I'm getting a bit flabby. Would it be safe for me to start going to the gym and start doing some cardio to start with. I also want to do some weight training again and start body sculpting. The only places I need to watch are my lower abdomen and lower back. Any suggestions would be very helpful! Thanks

Really thats a question for your doctor
I was cleared for light workouts at 12 weeks but they didnt clear me to resume everything until my 6 month check up. My surgeon was the doctor i listened to as he knew what he had done to my insides, could see how i was healung and had the data from all his patients as to how the average patient tolerates things0 -
light stuff should be fine, if in doubt consult a dr.0

Thanks I can't contact my surgeon as he's away overseas and my GP says walking is ok but not sure about weights ect!0

6 weeks is considered normal healing time. Find out when people with C-sections are allowed to lift.
Should apply to you, too!

Major abdominal surgery+lifting weights is a recipe for a hernia or ripping your sutures (internal or external). Consult your physician, I would be wary of lifting anything heavy for awhile until you get the go ahead from your doctor. I hope you heal up well!0

Personally I would just continue walking until the surgeon got back from vacation. The thought of tearing internal stitches makes me {shudder} and
. Definitely not something to fool around with! When I had my hysterectomy I remember my surgeon saying that the vast majority (not all, certainly, but most) of women who had complications after that surgery were the ones who didn't follow doctor's orders.

I think I might stick to some light cardio to start with. This was my 10th major abdo surgery and I've already had 4 hernias over the last 5yrs. I also have an Ileostomy (bag) for 12yrs and haven't been to the gym in that time. I used to work out 5-6 day's a week, lifting, body sculpting ect! I really want to get fit again like I used to be, but will hold off with the weight's until I can speak to my surgeon. I'm sure I'll be ok doing some light cardio in the meantime.0
