It's like I'm making a dating profile.

I'm looking for someone; someone who I can know well & someone who will know me equally as well in return.
Leaving a few comments here or there isn't enough for me, because for something to work, I need to believe it's genuine.
I'm tired of just allowing myself to go with the flow come the weekends & totally sabotage all of my progress from the week.
I'm not denying my responsibliity to myself to keep myself on track, I just need some help.

Yep, i know exactly what you mean on the whole sabotaging-at-the-weekends thing. Luckily there are some genuinely supportive people on here, and it does make it easier0

Just gotta find those people who aren't afraid of telling you what you're doing wrong and I'm one of those so feel free to add me. If I don't see you exercise in a few days or if I see you eat badly a few days in a row, you better believe I will point it out to you. I expect the same in return as well. That's one reason why I keep my friends list small so I can keep track and motivate everyone the best I can.0

you have to believe it's genuine, so you need to make it genuine.
commit to the process. my biggest piece of advice to people is to sign up for a race that is in 6-8 months. it gives you a great long term goal, and something to really prepare you for.0 -

I've been terrible at actually setting legitimate goals for myself that aren't just numbers, but I think signing up for a race is a really good idea, & I feel dumb for not thinking of that as an option. So thank you!0 -
you're welcome!!
i find it great for so many reasons. instead of working out and thinking " will this exercise make me thinner?" you'll be going "is this going to be useful on race day?"
remember, appearance is the result of hard work. if you put in the hard work for a race, you WILL look good. and then as you cross the finish line and they hand you a finsher medal and t-shirt, and hopefully a beer, you will have an external validation, not just a reflection that you constantly pick at.
i just did a mud run with a lot of friends on here. i told them to hang their medal somewhere they can always see it, so they can always remember what they did, even when they're having bad days.0
