I've been on a pasta kick lately; it's so high-calorie and the portions are so unsatisfying that I've been playing around with it some. I finally hit on a solution: bulk it out with green beans! Fix a half-portion (or whole portion, whatever) of pasta and throw a cup or two of frozen or fresh green beans in about halfway through. Bam, pasta-y goodness with far fewer calories.

For my lunch today I made "pasta salad:"

1/2cup (dry) radiatore
1 cup green beans
1 turkey sausage, sliced into coins
2tbsp pesto
A few quartered cherry tomatoes (I was out this morning)

Boil pasta, adding green beans after a few minutes. Right at the end, toss in your sausage coins. Drain, mix with pesto while hot. Refrigerate until lunchtime.

Perhaps this is a common tip and I am dumb, but it sure helps my pasta cravings.
