Do you manage to accurately weigh small amounts? I have a cheap one that goes 0 to 200 to 400 etc and find it a bit difficult to weigh out small amounts, around 10 - 40 grams. I've only just bought this because it was the cheapest option.

Unfortunately that's the nature of the technology. Making a mechanical scale that is accurate at all ranges would be prohibitively expensive and would not be marketable.0

You just bought it? I'd return it and get a digital scale. It makes weighing foods every so much more convenient.0
