Hi guys,

So I had been reading about how a combination of cardio and strength training are ideal when trying to lose weight and begin to tone. Ive started to actually enjoy running to fulfill the cardio end of it, but Im kind of lost as where to start with weights.

I don't really have anyone to go through free weights with, so does anyone have any recommendations for body weight exercises and the weight machines (like, a schedule for beginners of what to do?) As of now I just spend my days running a few miles each day and throwing some yoga in as well.

Take a look at convict conditioning. It's a progressive strength body weight only program (though a pull-up bar is recommended).

There's this, "Your Are Your Own Gym" and the beginner routine on www.nerfitness.com-among others.

Though, many people teach themselves to use free weights by learning/running a beginners lifting program-if you're interested there's Starting Strength (a program I thought you were making this thread about), Strong Lifts 5x5-just to literally name a couple.
