So I've started an On-ramp class for crossfit in my local area. I'm am curious to know if people do other exercises beyond the WOD at their box. Our first class was a lot of prep of course but the actual workout was only a 7min AMRAP. Is it short because its on-ramp? I was 1st female and 2nd overall to do as many rounds so I was putting in full effort.

I'm just curious to hear what other people do when doing classes with crossfit.

This is what I do: stretch/warmup 20 min. Strength/skills 15~1 hour. Hour long is typically a weight training session and I try to have a rest before the xbox. 15 min is like practice on cleans, snatches etc. Long Wods 45 min + I skip strength or anything else because 45+ of xfit is plenty. If I did a 7 min amrap I would add a 30 min strength before the wod rest 5 min. And do a tabata fast burn cardio for another 5 min or so. I occasionally jog 2~3 miles when I get home or swim. Make sure you have a rest day every 5~7 days. Not those active rest days either. My xfit coach says yeah just come in and row for 45 min when im sore head to toe, take a rest rest day lol.

It is short because it is on ramp.

Regular workouts at any of the boxes I've been to (I've dropped in to others while travelling) include a warm up, some type of work on a specific movement, either learning technique or doing heavy work/fewer reps, then the actual WOD.

When I was doing CrossFit I was running as well. I often found it difficult to balance trying to train for any type of distance running and CrossFit. I kinda found one or the other had to be my focus. I could do easier runs but it was hard to get in longer or more intense running workouts.

Today was my second day and my legs kinda felt like jelly doing the WOD even though I've been working out most days of the week. Yeah, they start with the techniques and warm-ups. Its only 30mins total so can only do so much. I'm glad to know its just a starting thing.
