Food, FitBit, Weight, Needing guidance and help

I consider myself an active person, I'm usually walking and moving a lot at my job with freight. Plus, I engage in CrossFit and do some runs every now and then. I wear a FitBit Surge to monitor my calories. I'll admit I haven't been tracking my food like I should for months like I did last year.

I'm a mess though, as all I think about is food and calories. I lost around 130+ pounds in 2010 and have fluctuated between 160-180lbs since. I have an eating problem as well that I'm dealing with, typically an emotional one, and I am a 5'11" Male, 31 years old.

I was sleeping pretty much all day yesterday because I was too fatigued from work and the gym. I got up around midnight and starting eating everything in sight and probably ate around 3,000 calories in a sitting. Typically, I just don't eat the rest of the day, or tell myself that anyway because I FEAR that if I eat 1 calorie more, then it just adds up and I will gain weight. My FitBit will say I've burnt on average about 3500 calories a day, and sometimes more, just by doing normal regular activity. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but sounds good.

I've been eating a lot more sugary foods/carbs and really it all adds up. I used to eat healthier before and I still do, but not as good as I used to. Does sugary foods affect body composition even at a calorie deficit and working out?

Plus, as I'm sure I'll have more questions, Since I've eaten those ~3000 calories already in Fiber One bars and crap, I'm hungry and I really fear eating additional food. My body says it's hungry, but I hear fasting helps too. I kind of know what to do, don't eat, but then again, I haven't been to the gym yet and now I feel compelled to run a lot and workout a lot, which people don't recommend. What should I do?

Sorry this post wasn't all that clear, but the struggle is real with me around food. I just try and move a lot even if it isn't specifically running or workouts.

By "dealing with" your eating disorder, I hope you mean you're seeing a doctor.

I'm less hungry when I use MFP's default protein & fiber goals as minimums, and ignore fat & carbs. It'll take trial & error to find what works for you. But sugary foods do not affect your body composition—calories in & out (and strength training) do.

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE, the number of calories at which your weight will stabilize. You can learn more in the Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

So, despite eating ~3000 calories in a SITTING in the early morning today and not eating anything else so far, but I'm hungry...? What do I do? Eat and suffer the consequences or not eat and feel crappy the rest of the day?

I'm absolutely being serious, coming from someone with a developed eating disorder. People think I'm crazy, heck, I think I'm crazy, but other people's input can mean a lot more.

You should see a doctor and get a referral to a dietitian and a therapist who specializes in eating disorders.

Just take it one step at a time. If you try and fast the rest of the day, you may just end up setting yourself up for another binge.

Log it and move on. One day is not the end of the world.
